One of my goals for 2018 was to spend more time with my friends, as well as make new friends! As a working mother I may not have a whole lot of free time but I’ve learned that it is essential to simply make the time. I didn’t notice it at first, but my once carefree mornings are now busy and rushed, and the phone calls I used to make daily to chat with my best friend slowly turned into every other week (or month!) catch up calls. I knew this had to change so, this year I pledge to be more present.
Spending time with friends is one of the few pleasures in life that can cost you very little, but reward you substantially. And while it’s true that once you start a family your time becomes very limited and hence most friendships seem to disappear—if we haven’t been a friend ourselves. And yet there are countless reasons why you should never forget about your friends when you’re married with children and/or without, in fact, a recent study proved that friendships are vital to our personal health and our relationship’s health.
So, over the weekend I got together with Amber, who’s an amazing photographer and friend of mine. We met when my family and I moved into our new neighborhood. We clicked right away and I’m beyond blessed that our paths have crossed. She is one of many women in my neighborhood that I simply adore and admire.
Amber and I went to Lola’s Diner, a 50s diner that is just the cutest space + has the friendliest staff + the most delicious milkshakes! We were able to shoot without any issues and I’m sure Amber and I delivered quite a show to the guests (who were amazing by the way too!). It was such a nice morning to giggle and talk with one another! Something I promised myself to do more often!
How about you?! How often do you get together with your friends and how important are friendships to you?! I’d love to hear from you!
As always, thanks so much for reading and a lovely start to your week!
You two are adorable! Such a cute post!

Oh gosh, you girls look so cute together. Looks like it was a fun day! Nothing beats getting together with your good friends and sharing a great laugh. It’s food for the soul and lives get so busy so it’s important to make that time for each other.

Yes, you have to spend sometimes with friends…It’s colored our day..
Have a good start in a week…
I love This Vanessa! You and Amber are stunning and Lola’s diner looks so fun, I’m always up for a good retro vibe! Since I resigned from my job, I am often missing my work friends. My family is my life so the majority of my friends were from work and when I announced my resignation most were not there for me. Hopefully I’ll make some new friends and you inspire me!
You look adorable! Love your dress & this diner is so cute!!
Have a great week!

The pictures are always amazing, dear V., and it’s so nice that you are spending time with friends and that you clicked with Amber! You are always so beautiful and so right – it’s really very nice to make time to be with friends and I try my best to do so. February and ow March are months that I am doing so! Sorry I was a bit absent, I had a 2-week break 🙂 Hope you have a lovely week! Hugs!

This place looks so cute!! And I agree you need to make time for friends. Just like I mentioned in my Setting Boundaries post, my one friend constantly hangs out with her boyfriend and doesn’t make time for us. She confronted me about the post ( I didn’t know she read my blog) and she even admitted she plans everything around her bf. I think some friendships just need to be let go when they won’t make time for you.

You two are so cute! So happy you found someone you just instantly clicked with. That’s the best feeling because you know you are completely yourself and that is rare to find among people.

Family is so important but good friends are a must! My mother (Amber’s Grammy) is ninety. She has met monthly with a group of friends since 1950! They have been there for each other through good and hard times. At one time there were 24 club members. Now there are only 8 left. They still gather each month and cheer each other on! Yes, find a way to keep good friends! Beautiful pictures!
What better place to meet up with your friend as in such a fantastic dinner!
What a cute post, Vanessa! You both look darling in this fifties diner! I completely understand how difficult it is to make time to see friends with a busy work schedule. I don’t get to see my friends nearly enough, especially since some of my dearest from college are all over the US and the world! A great reminder to make time for friendships though! Happy Monday, Vanessa!

There is no makeup that is good only for a few. We just need to find the right way to wear what we are less used to.
