We’ve all heard it: If you want to live life to the fullest, research shows you’ve got to let go of regret. I’ve thought about this a lot lately. As a full-time publisher/influencer I spent a lot of time behind a screen. But this year I want to balance my time more. I am trading screen time for face time.
Even though I spent many hours on my phone for work I do find it extremely sad when I notice all these people around me burying their faces into their phones. You can’t go anywhere these days without seeing people with their faces buried in a screen. It seems we all suffer from FOMO. The fear of missing out. And yet we let meaningful connection fall to the wayside. Last summer when I went back to Germany to visit family and friends something stuck with me; my simple admiration how Europeans live their lives.

Life is less stressful over there (social media isn’t quite as big as it is here) and that’s when it hit me: When I am old and gray, I won’t be going to reminisce about my work email I sent earlier in the day or the selfie a classmate I haven’t seen in 20 years just posted. I will reflect on the special moments, moments with family and real friends. So, this is year I consider myself free. I am going to be intentional about spending time with family and friends now. Why? Because these are my good days. There’s so much wonder happening right in front of you. If you blink, you just might miss it.
Happy New Year Vanessa!

THat’s my mindset about work too. There is more to life than stressing about work, emails, etc. I made that commitment last year, and it was the best thing that has happened.

That is just a good mindset! We all spend so much time on your phones! That’s why I usually skip Instagram on the weekends so I can actually enjoy them!

Yes, that’s a good idea …more time with the family is the best..
Have a good day Babe..❤
More time with the family!!!
I read a swedish quote that said ”When you’re old, do you want to say ”when i did…” instead of ”I wish”” and that’s something I think about everyday.

Happy New Year Vanessa! I couldn’t agree more, however it’s quite hard to get the right balance and still become a successful blogger. Blogging requires so much screen time. I was so happy to have a break at Christmas and sent entire two weeks with my family, precious moments xx

Love this Vanessa. I see so many people with their heads down and on their phones too and it’s disheartening. Definitely making more time for family and friends.

Happy New Year! These photos are sooo gorgeous! I’ve been thinking a lot about social media and how much time I “waste” on it too! I want to be more engaged and be more in the present this year! Thanks for such a lovely read! xx

Oh so true, just realized this morning on my way to work that no one reads a book these days in the subway, everyone just staring at the screen … that’s also a bit of a new years resolution for me, to enjoy the moment and not let it pass because I needed to check something on Instagram or take a photo 😉
Lovely pictures babe and Happy New Year♥

I fully agree with you. its a fact every one is busy on their phones. We all need to change our mindset , leave our phone sets for some time and spend quality time with family or friends or give time to self.

That’s a wonderful resolution for 2019. It’s easy to forget what really matters sometimes.

You always have amazing photos dear! Anyway, couldn’t agree more with you. Our phones are really keeping us from making real connection with real people in the real world. And we miss a lot in life because of that.
