Did Influencing Become A New Art?

How is the internet changing art? What about social media? Scrolling through my Instagram I’m amazed and inspired by YOU. Everybody is an artist. To me, art is a form of communication. We express our feelings and thoughts through an image.

Some people may not understand the art of photography and yet according to the word’s most basic definition, an artist is simply a person who creates art. I define myself as an artist. Art is subjective hence it cannot be measured by its significance or the level of skill with which it is created. And that’s the beauty of it all. Social media has changed the world as we see it. I remember when I first started on Instagram, back in 2014. I used it to simply share my outfit looks, kind of like a journal. Then I learned that you could monetize on your Instagram content and make money. This changed everything and yet I felt a longing within me that wanted to express myself even more. I didn’t want my followers to just purchase my looks but instead I was hoping to make them feel empowered and inspired every time they visited my page. That’s where the art came in.

I’m hoping to continue to inspire you with my art and hopefully provoke you to create your very own.

Honestly, I don’t quite get the definition of “Influencer”. Art elevates and uplifts people’s hearts ans souls, art liberates and nurtures. You don’t have to be a Picasso or a Peter Lindbergh to be an artist. Art is about being creative, I am totally with you on this. However, fashion /style etc…influencers via their photos promote fashion brands to increase their revenues ( brands+ influencers). Photos scream buy, buy buy more clothes whatever and you will be empowered. Sadly, more often than not, photos display endless lookalikes. Influencers don’t promote uniqueness but conformity with the same ” deep” quotes. Art makes you unique not a clone. However I am totally aware that media platforms are a free space for artists -photographers for that matter-to reach their audience and land jobs. I guess you know the fashion industry web magazine BoF. I just read an eye opener article about the situation of editorial photographers. I am not criticizing your photos or anything, just sharing my point of view in general . Bottom line being an influencer is a huge responsibility.😊

I think it’s so important that people blog out of passion rather than hunting fame and success, as they’ll just end up burning out! xo

It is definitely true that social media can be a great platform for creative and artistic people to express themselves and to create artistic content. Not everything that is on social media is art as such but there is good quality content for sure. Being an influencer and content creator does have things in common with being an artist. Sometimes an infuencer is also an artist, sometimes more of what you would think as a business person, someone who understand the market and the trends- and some people can be a mixture of the two….it all depends….but there is definitely a place for creative people and artist among the content creators.

I like your view on this question and honestly I think influencing is changing the World in general from the economy to values and education.

I couldn’t agree more. Social Media and blog gave everybody a platform for their art. It’s definitely an opportunity for everyone to showcase their creativity.
