Sometimes the smallest things in life can bring the largest amount of joy. I suggest everyone stops to smell the sunflowers once in a while, look around you and take it all in. Find beauty and happiness in the little things.
When I went to Germany last this summer, I would just sit near the sunflower field and look around me. The butterflies flying around the field, the beautiful sky around me…it was just perfect. I just sat there in perfect silence and amazement, just realizing how amazing God’s creation really is.
Social media can take a toll on you sometimes which is why it’s so important to just sit back and take the time to reflect on your life and your surroundings without your cell phone. We live such self-centered lives filled with worry and we we are truly honest: Most of them are only focused on us. So, why not change this and focus on someone else instead? Take 5 minutes to catch up with a friend, compliment a stranger on their outfit, you name it. The point is that it doesn’t have to be big. Now imagine these 5 minutes turn into 10 minutes the following day. It starts with the little things that gets the ball rolling into something bigger; and before you know you’re changing the world with happy thoughts and deeds.
This being said: Finding joy in the little things not only gives us a better outlook on life, but it can make us much happier people. Happiness is infectious and can spread like wildfire. So why not be the base of that fire?

Fully agree with you Vanessa. We often tend to ignore the small things in search for big things, whereas small things give more and instant happiness. Let us all start appreciating the small wonders of nature and start deriving happiness from them. Thanks for sharing this post . This is a sharp reminder to get close to our family and nature.

Authentic joy begins inside you. It doesn’t depend on the external reality or on material pleasures.

Beautiful backdrop for this post and I love the gingham dress and straw hat! Little things do have a way of building into bigger things – some good, some bad. I do like your suggestion of just taking 5 minutes to do something you know you need to or should do. 5 minutes is nothing but it could be the little break or step back or encouragement that you or someone you know needs.
