Influencer Growth I’ve Experienced Over The Last Years

I’ve been blogging or shall I call it “influencing” for over 6 years now. I  started What Would V Wear on a whim and big dreams. I set goals for myself, spent countless sleepless nights working on my content while working full-time until I quit my corporate job to pursue entrepreneurship. Six years later, I’m proudly self-employed. It’s been a wild ride but one I wouldn’t want to change for the world!

What Is Influencer Marketing?

Like many other bloggers aka influencers, I started out with an online platform where I could simply share my style with other likeminded people. My blog was my digital happy place. But with the growth of Instagram aka social media, the world of blogging has changed tremendously and hence the rise of influencers originated. Influencer marketing became a big part of my business, and it doesn’t look like it will slow down any time soon. One of the many questions I get on an almost daily basis is how influencers actually generate an income. So, let’s have a closer look at myself and other so called “Influencers”. First off, an influencer is someone who is able to captive audiences that will pay attention to the products and services they promote. So, in my case a business can pay me to promote a product in various ways, from a sponsored blog/social media post to affiliate links or video reviews.

I pride myself to only promote products that I truly believe in but also produce real-life personal reviews. You see, it takes honesty to build audience trust and once you achieve that you can truly call yourself an influencer. Influencer marketing is a relationship between a brand and an influencer. While I promote the brand’s products or services through various media outlets such as Instagram and YouTube, I shall not be confused with celebrity endorsements. Influencer marketing does more than just attach a well-known celebrity to a brand. I retain a loyal following through my knowledge and experience about what I am advertising.

Why Is Influencer Marketing So Important?

Because we live in a digital age. Today, with the creation of the internet and the popularity of social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube people are absorbing all of their information via their mobile devices. It has never been easier to reach your customer through a lot of different channels (back in the day people relied on magazines and TV).

Influencer Marketing has changed my life. It has not only helped me start my own business but I’m also incredibly proud to witness influencer marketing growth for so many other content creators. You may not like it but influencer marketing is here to stay and in these troubling time of COVID-19 perhaps even more so than ever.
