I’m about to enter my second trimester (next week to be exact!) and I can’t believe how fast time has flown by! I still remember the day when my husband and I found out that we were having another baby together. The joy we both felt is indescribable. We both wanted a sibling for our son for the longest time, and we are truly grateful to have been blessed to expand our family, however, my emotions have been on a roller-coaster ride.

I once read that “pregnancy is the happiest reason for feeling like crap“, and while the author of this quote is unknown I simply couldn’t agree with this person more. While my blog nor my social media accounts portray this “state of crap” in my images, I do want to share the truth with you, and simply be honest. Ultimately I have a voice and I intend to use it. Social media often portrays the perfect life and even though I consider myself blessed and grateful for the life that I have, i.e. my family—I do have days that are anything but glamorous. Let’s take today. I am writing this post in the afternoon after I have woken up from my 2hr nap. I’ve been taking naps twice a day (luckily my son’s at school!) and every time I wake I feel incredibly groggy. I can barely get up, and I just feel like, yep…, crap.
But I am blessed to feel this way, and I know that. Like the quote says, “pregnancy is the happiest” reason. I’m looking forward to see my body grow and feel my baby inside of me. I remember it with my son Kingston. I must have been around 20 weeks pregnant when I first felt him kick inside of me—what a wonderful feeling it was! I literally cannot wait to experience this again!
And as I am approaching my 2nd trimester this will also mean that I will work on the baby’s room! I’ve been busy on Pinterest finding some really neat ideas of what I want the baby’s room to look like, and of course I will share them with you as well! Stay tuned!
As always, thanks much for reading & have a fabulous Wednesday!
PS: I will be attending an event with VOGUE Magazine at Tiffany’s in Chicago from 7PM – 9PM today! If you’re from Chicago I hope to see and meet some of you there!
XOXO

Love the whole outfit especially the booties…Take good care of you…
Enjoy your event tonight…
Vanessa, I love how real you are with the emotions you’re experiencing, which from what I’ve understand to be normal, but still, as a blogger, people will look and think as though everything is perfect, so it’s great to share that you have your hormonal moments, too ๐ As for your outfit, I love that crochet top paired with that pencil skirt, is it suede? I can’t wait for you to share the ideas and decor you come up with for the baby’s nursery, I know it will look amazing! Thanks so much for sharing and have a wonderful time at the Vogue event!

Dear V., that’s why you are truly amazing, you are real! I loved this post, because you are right, social media and some bloggers act like everything is perfecting on their cruise ships, and just like you said, while we are blessed to have family and more, to lead a nice life, not everyday is this way. I hope you feel better soon, but as you said, or the quote ๐ it’ the happiest reason to feel that way ๐ Can’t wait to see the baby’s room and to read that your baby started kicking! You look lovely as usual, dear V., chic and beautiful with the nice midi skirt and booties! Would have loved to meet you at the event! Hope it’s nice and that you have a wonderful day! Hugs and kisses!

Even without being pregnancy everybody has bad days, but people forget that and focus on the life on Instagram. Which is obviously unrealistic! thanks for sharing the other side V!

I love the quote, Vanessa! And how everything in this post is so real. You are so right that social media portrays a perfect life and existence, but that is so not the reality. I hope you start to feel better as you enter your second trimester next week! Love your entire look, too. Those booties are fabulous!

It’s really nice to hear your honest take on pregnancy. Everyone loves the glossy images but we all know it’s not all glamour shots in life. I’m so happy for you and your family! I’m sure it can be a bit taxing but as you said it’s a blessing!

Those are very true words!! It’s the best reason to not feel good that’s for sure, it’s nice to hear your honest experience as you are right social media portrays this image of pregnant woman that can be so unrealistic and discouraging to other women so good for you for sharing this! I hope you feel better as the days go on and feeling the baby kick was so unreal and amazing, very glad you will be blessed to experience this once again too! On another note this outfit is ultra chic and I’m obsessed with those booties! Have a wonderful night with your family Vanessa! Love you, xoxo

Vanessa, you look beautiful. I love how you styled your pencil skirt with that beautiful lace top. And thank you for being so open and honest with us. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing but also so hard on the body. All my girlfriends tell me it’s harder the second time around but also incredibly rewarding too. I hope your second trimester goes smoothly and your energy level come up. Hope you have a great time at your Vogue event!

Such truth in that quote and this post. Someone described pregnancy to me as strange and wonderful, and I have adopted that description. After trying for so long, we are so happy to be pregnant. However, that doesn’t make pregnancy easy! I try to balance the gratitude and reality too. Glad you are taking care of yourself. You look beautiful!!

You look gorgeous! I remember the first trimester/exhausted/feeling like crap SO well. The second baby was so much harder for me than the first. You’ll regain a lot of energy soon! I totally agree that social media is often used to portray only the best parts of life- the gorgeous and glamorous and aesthetically pleasing parts. Real life can get blurred, and it’s always important to read posts like this to bring us back down to Earth. You’re an amazing person and I’m so happy for you (glad you’re feeling better in your second trimester, though!)
