It feels so good to be back in New York for Fashion Week! It seriously is my favorite time of year! My husband (who’s also my brand manager) and I left early Saturday morning (woke up at 4AM to catch a flight at 7AM!) for meetings, photo shoots and shows. After a slight flight delay my husband and I got into NYC around 11AM.
My husband and I always wanted to walk on the Brooklyn Bridge hence we had our cab driver drop us off in Brooklyn so we can walk all the way to Manhattan. We had so much fun but it was also a bit hectic. We managed to have a quick photo shoot until we realized that we only had 35min left until my first show at Spring Studios. We literally sprinted towards Manhattan so we can catch a cab AND we did it! Phew! We made it on time for NYFW.
Spring Studios aka NYFW
OK, let’s be real for a second: I was very disappointed by the new location. From all the locations we’ve had in the past, Spring Studios would be my least favorite. But the shows did not disappoint. Son Jung Wan, a darling Korean designer, surprised us all with masterful plays in volume, texture and seductive color at her runway. I especially loved seeing traditional tailoring with exposed seams to create 3D effects. It was utterly fantastic, to say the least. Up next we headed to a meeting in Soho followed by a wonderful lunch at Claudette. If you’re looking for a Provençal restaurant in the heart of Greenwich Village—Claudette is the place to be! The food was delicious and the service impeccable!
Connecting with other influencers
Another reason why I love fashion week is the ability to meet with other influencers in the industry. Over the years I’ve connected with quite a few on Instagram (some even becoming friends in real life too!). On Day 1 I met with Alexandria, handbag designer behind F&W Style. We literally bumped into each other at Spring Studios. Love her!
