The company you keep says a lot about you so, why shouldn’t it be impossible to be friends with fellow influencers? While it’s true that the business of blogging can be quite catty and competitive—I truly believe that it’s time that women support one another. It’s not about your influence, trust me. I couldn’t care less if you have 1o or 10,000 followers, to me what really matters is the heart of a person.
So, the short answer to this question is yes. In fact, they’re they ones that will truly get you. They understand that this industry is glamorous, yes, but it can be a strain as well, especially during Fashion Week. My assistant Allison and I were literally heading from show to show which is an amazing privilege, yet exhausting. Being your own boss means a self-managed work schedule, but one that ends up being 24/7. Hence when I run into fellow influencers I connected on Instagram with and meet in real life, well, it’s simply fun! Especially when you’re on the same wavelength! I met so many amazing influencers, from Audrey of Happily Audrey, Sara of Fashinny, Hollyn of P.S. I’m from the Midwest, and more. These ladies know firsthand that photoshoots are fun, but having a camera in your face when you’re tired, stressed and trying to make a client happy can be draining. Being understood like that is a blessing, believe me. It seems certain parts of our society still don’t quite understand what it really means to be an influencer. Perhaps the biggest misconception is that they think that we don’t work which couldn’t be more far from being the truth.
These ladies, who are now consider as friends, understand me and the business we are in. It’s a whole production of the content I publish, including this post. I had a meeting with Marie Claire Magazine in the morning, followed by attending shows, such as Galtiscopio, Concept Korea, BaubleBar, Vaishali, Cindy Monteiro, etc., and here I am now writing the content at midnight, like I said it’s 24/7. These pictures were taken in between shows. But these little moments mean so much, and I think my laughter says it all. Cheers to real friendships!
As always, thanks so much for reading & have a lovely Wednesday!
XOXO

Se te ve buena persona y eso es lo que cuenta, realmente da igual en lo que trabajes, lo importante es tener nobleza y buen corazón.

I know I’ve said it 100 times already and I’ll say it again, I’m truly so glad we met! This NYFW wouldn’t have been the same without you and the other fabulous women who made it so special. Cheers to new friendships, supporting each other’s goals and late night karaoke. 😉 Can’t wait for what’s to come! xx

We’re definitely in a very competitive industry but you can always find good people! Not everyone I met through blogging ended up being a friend but some of them did!

So true that no one truly understands but other bloggers. It really is so much work to be an influencer!
Also, totally agree with supporting one another.
Love the message!

I think being friend with other infuencers is the best because you share so much in common and understand each others, but I am not sure if it is ithat easy to build a honest longterm friendship…

I agree, I think that it’s possible, even amongst the flood blogosphere. I’ve met some great bloggers and that’s why I still love visiting blogs and commenting. It’s not easy to be an influencer that’s certainly true. <3 Looking beautiful in these shots babe, xMadison

First off, bummed I didn’t meat you 🙁 BUT, I know they’ll be many Fashion Weeks to come that we’ll have a chance to link up! That said, I couldn’t agree more. This industry can be SO competitive and catty and quite honestly, I think much of it is unnecessary because there’s enough glitter in the jar for everyone. I’m glad you were able to meet up with some of those ladies, some of which I know personally and very well, like SJ of Fashinny; love that babe! You look gorgeous in these photos, totally killing the Fashion Week style game! Thanks for sharing, gorgeous, and I hope you’re having the best time!

That’s why you are the best Vanessa-your kind authentic spirit really shines through! There’s not a pretentious bone in your body and I think that’s why you have been successful given there are many catty and fake bloggers out there just in search of fame or followers. I’m so happy you got to experience such an awesome NYFW and that you made these friendships in real life! Hoping we will have a chance to meet some day too. Great pics and hope you have a wonderful weekend:)

I agree with you, dear V., and I am so glad that we have “met” 🙂 You are so right,it doesn’t matter how many followers a person has, what matters is the heart of the person! And I know yours is made of gold! Your smile says all, you are right. Being with your assistant or with the girls you met during NYFW. Yes, too, many people think in this business people don’t work. And yes, again, it is such a competitive field, but I also believe women can support each other and can be friends! I loved your dress and boots! You look gorgeous, as usual! Hope you have a great weekend! Hugs!

Beautiful pictures, and yes to this! I hate that there’s a competitive/catty side to the influencer community because it should all be about supporting each other, it’s wonderful you found friends
The Quirky Queer
I enjoyed reading your post because I agree. I love to connect with women and I also believe in empowering one another. Competition is everywhere and if you let it get to you, it will make you an unhappy person. The best part about this industry is the people you meet and the connections you make. Also, loving the style!

Y’all look so chic. I agree, it seems like there’s more that enough to go round…unhealthy competition is, well…unhealthy! You seem so down to earth, and you’er right it’s the heart that matters.
http://www.vivellefashion.com
Hey Vanessa, that’s great that you could meet some of your virtual friends during NYFW! I’m not an influencer but I do have fellow virtual friends I’ve met via blogging and the support I’ve been given from them has meant a lot to me. When I was a stylist full-time in LDN it was much harder to get a network of stylist friends, blogging has been better. Of course not every influencer has their arms open but that’s to be expected, haha! Have a good rest of week hon. Xx
