NYFW Day 1: Desigual SS18

I left Chicago at 2:00 am to attend Desigual’s SS18 Fashion Show at Skylight Clarkson Square in New York City at noon on Thursday, 9/7. The trip in itself was quite exhausting but the show made me forget all about it. Desigual staged a celebration of multiculturalism, in it’s typical signature playful way.

This season, my assistant Allison and I took the subway to attend shows—traffic is and always will be awful in NYC. For us, this transportation method was the fastest way to get around without being stuck in traffic + both of us seem to get car sick especially when it’s constantly stop and go, stop and go. Luckily the subway stop was only 2 blocks away from Skylight Clarkson which made walking in heels a lot more doable. Fashion-wise, Desigual’s show “had a little bit of everything. There were references to Africa, Chinese influences, Indian symbols, as well as Western staples, such as denim pants and tops recalling the uniforms of American sailors”, noted WWD and I must admit that I truly loved this diversity.  Knitwear took center stage in the collection and with fall around the corner I couldn’t help but swoon over their wide range of lace-up sweaters! I shared my favorite looks both on my Instagram and Jeeyo stories—I hope you were able to following along!

I’ve always loved this brand (which headquarter is in Barcelona, Spain) for its happy approach to life. The colors and prints often speak for themselves—and this season did not disappoint. Professional dancers ran the runway to reflect joy and happiness and I couldn’t help but smile the entire show myself!

    I looove Desigual, dear V.! And you look so beautiful, despite the trip leaving you exhausted, but then the show made up for it, I am glad! You look so gorgeous, this top is super sweet and the skirt is amaaaazing, I love fringes! The heels are also lovely, and so good you didn’t have to walk very much!
