“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
— Aaron Siskind

Over the last couple of months I’ve gotten quite a few emails regarding my photography. Many of you asked me what camera my husband and I use, and what editing tools I primarily work with. Hence I decided to dedicate an entire blog post on my photography today.

Below are some questions I’ve received via emails and social media. I hope you’ll find this post informative and helpful, and don’t forget to comment below if you have any other questions, or perhaps you want to share some of your photography tips with me?! In any case, I would love to hear from you!

Happy Reading!

What camera do you use?

I use a Nikon D3000. Most of my style posts are being shot with a Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S lens.

Who edits your pictures and what tools do you use?

I edit my pictures myself and I primarily work with Lightroom. Lightroom is especially useful if you shoot in RAW because that way you can edit your pictures to your own liking.

Who takes your outfit post pictures?

My husband (so, cliché!). However, I take all of my flat lays, product images and social media pictures myself, and the pictures for this post were also taken by yours truly.

Do you take pictures with your cell phone?

I do, but I must say that I prefer my DSLR camera much better. My iPhone takes great pictures, don’t get me wrong, but it simply cannot compete with a DSLR.

Do you have photography tips for new bloggers?

First and foremost, you need to remember that no one takes a perfect photo every time, including myself. It takes practice, practice and practice.  To learn how to edit photos I strongly recommend attending photography classes, or watch some Youtube videos online. For instance, I learned how to use Lightroom via Youtube.

Don’t give up, and keep educating yourself!

Thanks much for reading, and don’t forget to comment below if you have any other questions!

Much love.

I agree that it takes a lot of practice because I use a photographer in my case. Photography is amazing because it captures moments which turn into memories. Thank you so much for dedicating a whole post on your photography to answer to those who have been asking and to teach those who needed to learn something even without asking like me!

Great idea to do this post and to be honest, your blog is definitely on my list as one of the ones out there that have made me really step up my photography….having courses is a great idea, but there are a few courses I’d like t have: SEO, blog engagement, social media AARGH. So for now, I’d love to have someone who knows more of what they are doing take my photos. You are sooooo lucky you can work with your husband with this…share your creativity, and he’s great at it too! Have a lovely wkend Bella! Xx Oh and Ps those rings are giving me life, I love the ‘Layered Rings’ look!

I have the same camera AND lens! I think you’re using it a bit better than I do, though! I love this lens it’s my favorite. I think it’s time to invest in lightroom. I always hear such good things about it and your photos are so lovely and bright! Thanks for the advice 🙂

This is such a helpful post, Vanessa! First off, these photos look amazing, I especially love the first one, that Aleix Bittar ring is so gorgeous and so is your engagement ring….SWOOOOON! I agree, taking good quality photos does come with plenty of practice. I’ve found Lynda.com to be quite helpful with tutorials for videos recording/setup, as well as some photography. I’ll have to look into Lightroom! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have an amazing weekend, beautiful!

Babes, how awesome are you for sharing? Too many would’ve guarded these secrets jealously so thank you 🙂 I’ve only recently hired a professional photographer for my outfit shoots and it’s made a world of difference. However, when it comes to product and beauty shoots, I’m still doing that myself so you can’t imagine how timely your tips are. A big HUG of thanks!!! xoxo

Your outfit pictures and flat lays are always so on point. Thanks for sharing these tips! I just recently upgraded my DSLR camera, so I hoping to get better pictures too. I tried Lightroom but I find that I’m still struggling with it. I think I will most likely take a course because I would really love to get more use out of it. Thanks again for sharing.
