The Importance of Family Quality Time

The Importance of Family Quality Time

If you have been following What Would V Wear® for a while now, you may or may not know that I’m a mother to a 5 year old toddler boy! His name is Kingston, and even though I’ve kept him pretty low-profile on my social media and on my blog—I cannot help but to feature him today, as I’m talking about all things motherhood related! Spending quality time with your family can’t be emphasized enough.

This is especially the case in today’s society where it seems as if everyone is always busy and there’s very little free time between work, school, errands, and everything else that gets in the way.As a working parent I must admit that my life gets quite chaotic at times, and yet my husband and I always make sure that we spend family quality time together, especially on the weekends. Which is why I rarely post on my social media nor publish anything on my blog on Saturday and Sunday. I don’t want any distractions but instead I want to solely focus on my family. With Baby J on the way it’s also important to prepare Kingston for becoming a BIG brother. I’ve been showing him photos of what I looked like when I was pregnant with him. And of course, I’ve showed him his own baby pictures with me, told him stories of what he was like when he was a baby, and told him how excited mommy and daddy were when he was born. I hope this will make him understand that he was once the baby who got that special baby attention.

Luckily Kingston’s very easy going, though—he seems very excited to meet baby brother! He wants to play with him right away but not change his diapers, LOL! This cracked me up…Boys will be boys after all. Are you a parent and expecting your second one?! If so, do you have any tips on how you prepare(d) your first born to become a become a big brother/sister?! Let me know by commenting below!

As always, thanks much for reading & have a fabulous Monday!

This makes me so happy, I grew up in a family that are always working and I do not have siblings so I always wished to spend more time with my parents. It is so good that you dedicate yourself to your family. The outfit is just amazing Vanessa and I love those shoes!

Aw, this is such a cute post, Vanessa! Kingston is such a cutie pie and I love his little outfit with the blue Doc Martins, so adorable! I, of course, love yours, too! For us it’s a bit different. It’s me and Eddie’s first child together, but he does have a 14 year old daughter (my step-daughter) who lives with us. She’s very excited for the new addition, though isn’t expressing interest in wanting to help change diapers either, haha. Spending time as a family is more important now than ever before, in my humble opinion, because of all the distractions and pressures we all face on the day-to-day that when we really pause and enjoy the time spent with those we love and who love us most, it gives us a sense of peace and comfort in such a chaotic and demanding world. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Kingston is such a handsome little guy! I love how excited he is about his new brother!! I have a younger brother who is 6.5 years younger and I remember one of my favorite things to do was practice my reading skills on him. He would lay in my lap and it was perfect!

You are so right, dear V., quality time with your family is really important, especially now that Kingston will be a big brother. You are so sweet and caring, showing his his baby pictures, explaining that you and your husband were so excited when he was born! He for sure will feel very happy when Baby J is born and will feel like “responsible” for him, like a big brother normally does! You look lovely, so beautiful, with Kingstn and he is so cute! Loved his boots! Your pictures with jim are always my favorite ones! I love to see the love you two share! Many hugs, dear V., and a very nice week for you!

I live away from my family, which can be very hard sometimes, since they always have family dinners, and I’m miles away :/
I do have my boyfriend though, so I do like to not spend as much time on social media in the weekends too <3

Ok, so first of all I want both of your shoes, his poppn’ blue ones and your Star print David Bowie-esque boots. With that confession out of their way, Kingston will be an excellent big brother? Warum? Because he has you as his mamaaaaaa. Your house will be full of love and you truly deserve it. Sure there might be a few moments when the transition may not be smooth but that’s natural. Personally, I think that kinda never goes away- I know even at my grand old age, I sometimes compare my siblings r/ship with my parents to mine but that’s a confidence thang. Anyhoo have a great week ahead hon. Xx

I love this post! Kingston is such a cutie!

Our boys are 16 years apart, so the situation was a bit different… However, the then 16-year-old still got jealous, and we worked very hard at having individual alone time with him… In fact, when the kid was a few weeks old, my older son and I started our Black Friday shopping tradition. And we still do it today, nine years later…

omg Kingston is such a cutie!! love your shoes and his too! And you’re right I think now more than ever it’s very important to set aside family time and just focus on each other 🙂
