Hello muggles and greetings from sunny Florida! My family and I are currently geeking out on anything and everything Harry Potter! In case you didn’t know: We are die hard fans. Being at Universal Orlando Resort is such a dream come true for me and my boys! Seeing my oldest son being such a fan of Harry Potter himself (he actually wants to change his name to Harry!) fills my heart with so much joy!
I remember the day I first got my hands on the first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. You might wonder why?! Well…the answer is easy. I was still living in Germany attending middle school. From one day to the next I decided to read only English literature. So I went to the bookstore to buy my first book in English. While scrolling through the aisles I came across Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. I’ve heard of the book in the news before and thought this book would be an easy one. I remember going home excitedly. I couldn’t wait to read! I finished the book within a day (now remind you I was not used reading an entire book in English). The next day I went back to the bookstore to buy Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
And this is how it all started. I finished reading these books so quickly and felt so sad every time I finished because you had to wait for the next book to come out. Fast forward here I am now, married with two children visiting Universal Orlando Resort. Seeing “The Wizarding of Harry Potter” exhibit/set was truly amazing. I walked around Diagon Alley with my eyes wide open and my heart beaming with joy because all of my childhood memories were coming back to me. And if you have seen the movies you’ll immediately feel like you’re walking the actual streets of Diagon Alley.
A few tips traveling to Universal Orlando Resort
- If you can travel during an off-season! It’ll be less crowded!
- Invest in Express passes! We never had to stand in line for any rides! Seriously so worth it!
- Stay close to Universal or stay in Kissimmee! Lots of restaurants in this area and shopping! We stayed in Kissimmee this time and LOVED it! A must-see is Old Town!
- Last but not least…Have fun!
