As much as I love the Holiday Season it is also a stressful time of the year. With all the hustle and bustle about getting Christmas presents, hosting dinner’s, etc. – there simply isn’t much time left for you to relax. There are days, like this weekend, where I completely felt a little frazzled and stressed. I didn’t get to shoot as much as I typically do on the weekends and my kids kept me pretty busy too. But I know of the importance to stay calm and relaxed during the holiday season. Hence here are some of my ways to find peace and calm during this time of year.
Go for a Walk
As a European I am used to walking A LOT. We should all find the time to walk at least 15 – 20min a day. Get your body moving and get some fresh air! I love to take a stroll around my neighborhood. I admire all of the Christmas lights or I take my dogs to the forest preserve for a quick stroll. Walks always give me boost of endorphins and hence improves my mood.
Get appropriate sleep
I would love to say SLEEP IN but this doesn’t happen in my household. With two kids, one being a 19 months old, sleeping in is history. But to make sure I get enough rest I typically go to bed early, 8:30PM that is.
Pray and Meditate
With the hustle and bustle going I think a lot people forget to think about Jesus. It really is all about HIM hence take some time to pray and meditate. I pray in the early mornings before my family is awake and I must tell you, I always feel much calmer after I have prayed. It’s just soothing to me and I feel strengthened.
