Sharing my ultimate guide to French style while capturing that Parisian je ne sais quoi.

A jaunty beret is one of those unique elements of French style that is without a doubt indisputable. Ever wondered what is it that makes French style so desirable? Perhaps it’s the simplicity, charm and elegance. To me it’s the understated simplicity that has the power to elevate your entire look to the next level. Born and raised in Germany I have always been fascinated with France. I’ve had a passion for fashion since tender age of 4 (I would grab my mom’s heels and walk all around the house pretending I was walking on a runway—lol). Paris is only 6 hours away from where I grew up in Germany so, my family and I visited France frequently. It didn’t take long that I fell in love with Chanel. I remeber my first time visiting Paris. I was contemplating what to wear until it hit me: If in doubt, simply go French. Oui oui??

The Beret

Okay, okay…Not all french girls were berets, but hats as a whole are symbolic of Parisian chic. In an instant, hats have the ability to morph a simple outfit (like my sweater dress look) into an entire thought-out and sophisticated ensemble. Wouldn’t you agree?!

    I love this look on you, Vanessa! I wish I were more bold about wearing hats – that beret is so cute! I do have hats but I’m just a little self-conscious when I wear them. I even have a black knit kind-of beret and if it’s ever cold enough here, I’ll definitely be styling that. I love that turtleneck dress, too! And your petite helper is just precious – so fierce! I think when we think style, we gravitate towards France and Italy since they’ve been the leaders in fashion for so long. I know they’re always where I’m looking first for my next inspiration.

    Ah yes I do love French style. And I love shooting street style there. This beret looks great on you. I don’t wear hats much as they do not look to good on me but I can kind of get away with a beret.Love this whole look!
